Worship: The Message

As Christians we live day-by-day in the knowledge of God's infinite grace, supremely displayed in His Son Jesus Christ who became a sacrifice for all by bearing the penalty of our sin - past, present, future.  By bearing the weight of our sin and conquering death three days later Jesus opened a means for direct fellowship between us and God - faith in the finished work of the cross.  We know that our salvation is a free gift and is not of ourselves (Ephesians 2:8-9) - it is, indeed, by grace.

Knowing that is by grace that we are saved, the only appropriate thing to do is to respond by worshipping God in both spirit and in truth (John 4).  Because he is infinitely worthy of our praise we should commit to giving him our very best when it comes to worship.  We worship because we want to respond to all that God has done in our lives, and we carry the truth of the gospel with us wherever we go.

With this knowledge firmly in hand our worship should also be an ongoing celebration of the restored fellowship now possible through Christ.  We come together to celebrate and declare the goodness of God, the witness of his handiwork throughout creation and his great love that endures forever.  This is not to say that worship should be easy or that we will always feel like worshipping.  But the overwhelming reality of our life in Christ should sustain us and cause us to worship with all our heart, mind and soul.  We worship with a message of hope!
