The
drama ministry at Gold Canyon Community involves people
who are gifted in the areas of acting and are committed
to learning their parts while understanding the purpose
of the drama at hand. We believe a well-done
dramatic production (from the script to the acting)
can convey simple biblical truths about life in a
way that people can instantly identify with and relate
to. Drama is another way we can use the God-given
gift of the arts to convey important truths in a sometimes
humorous, sometimes tearful way.
We
often times make use of dramatic sketches to sort
of
"set the table" for a particular message
on Sunday mornings. Many times a well-thought
out dramatic production can open eyes, ears and hearts
to God's truth more effectively than the spoken word
alone. We are discriminating, however, in the
use of dramas - we don't believe in just doing a drama
because we can or because it's funny. We choose
to be selective in the use of dramas, believing it
is better to do a quality job with a quality script
rather than just "occupying time" during
Sunday morning worship. Like the music and the
message, we look at our dramas as another venue for
worship which can ultimately point us towards our
Savior Jesus Christ.
